Here lieth the Body of William Elyetson, Esq., of Scarsykes in this Parish one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Westmorland. He was a Gentleman of good natural talents, a friend to the poor, a promoter of peace and good neighbourhood, and a person of great worth and integrity. He died March 22nd 1814 aged 66. Here also lies buried Nancy his youngest daughter who died Oct. 17th 1814 aged 30 years. Also Agnes his Widow who died at Gate in Dent May 13th I823 aged 78.

Also the Remains of their two eldest Children and only Daus. Margaret who died December . 16 aged11,& Eliza,Novr.10 aged 9, both in the years. 1713. Also the remains of their sixth Son James, a Youth of Great Hopes, who died Augt. 25, 1739 aged 19. And of their daughter -in-Law Alice Wife of William F. who died in Childbed November 11,1745 aged 23. S. also m. their eldest Son George Fothergill, died D. and Principal of St. Edmund Hall in Oxford where he lies interred who departed this life October 5, 1760, aged 54. He was a Person of great Parts and Learning, and of most exemplary Piety and Virtue, which made his Death greatly lamented. By his side is buried the Body of Hen. Son of William . & Alice F||, Taberdar of Queen's Coll. Oxford, who deceased June 27, 1767. He was a very deserving young Man and learned and knowing above his years. This Monument was erected by their five surviving Sons, Ricd. F||, of Lockholm ; Hen. F||, Memory of A. Rector of Cheriton Bp. in Devonshire ; William . F||, of Crossbank; Tho. F||, died D. Hewetson (W. Large obelisk, rail, Memory of I. on 4 sides of base). (1). In affectionate remembrance of Richard Hewetson late of this Parish who died at Croydon, Surrey, in March 1800 aged 77 years. Also of Susanna Hewetson his wife who died the 15th day of December . 1796 aged 58 years. They were both interred in Mr. Burton's Vault at St. George's Episcopal Chapel, Deal, Kent. Also of Henry Hewetson, Nephew of Richard Hewetson, late of the Grange, Worth, Sussex, who was born at Ellergill the 9th day of May 1755, and died at Turnham Green, Middlesex, the 8th day of March 1838. He was interred in Kensal Green Cemetery. (2). Ina. remembrance of John Hewetson Wilson, Nephew of Henry Hewetson, late of the Grange, who died at Surbiton, Surrey, the 9th day of August 1862 in his 78th years. He was interred in the Vault beneath. Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.–5th Romans, 1 & 2 verses. Also of Jane Howard daughter of J. H. Wilson and Mary Ann his wife who died the 21st day of April 1831 aged 2 years. She was interred in a vault in the Parish Church of Stockport. (3). In affectionate remembrance of James Hewetson Wilson, Son of J. H. Wilson and Mary Ann his wife who died the 12th day of November 1850 aged 24 years. He had just taken his degree at Oxford with distinguished Mathematical honours and was about to commence the study of the Law when he was suddenly called away. Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh.–24 Matthew, 44 verse. Also of Henry Hewetson Wilson, another son, who died the 5th day of March 1834 aged 3 years. They were both interred in a vault in the Parish Church of Stockport, Cheshire. (4). In affectionate remembrance of Mary Ann Wilson, Widow of J. H. Wilson, who died at Sunbury House, Watford, Herts, the 11th day of August 1865 in the 76th years. of .her age. She was interred in the Vault beneath. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, write Blessed are they which die in the Lord from henceforth, yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them.–Revelation, chap. 14, verse 13.
Hodgson (S). Sacred memory of Margaret Bousfield Hodgson only child of Edmund and Elizabeth Hodgson of Cold Beck, Ravenstonedale. In her walk through life she strove to realize the bright example of her Saviour. Her pure spirit was recalled from Earth on the 13th of May 1851 aged 56 years. Her sorrowing friend and cousin Jane Hodgson has caused this memorial to be placed here. Memory of B.H. 1851 (dove & sprig).

Also Agnes their infant daughter who died May 13th 1832 aged 5 m. Also Henry their son who died September 20th 1847 aged 6 years. Also John their son who died March 16th 1862 aged 17 years. Lyon (W). Here are deposited the Remains of George Edward Lyon, second Son of Benjamin Lyon, Esquire, and Mary his Wife, both of the Island of Jamaica. He was born on the 19th of March 1800 and died . . . . . (Remainder broken away 1886, the whole since gone, 1889. Bur. 18 July 1810. George E. Lyon late from Jamaica, a scholar at this school aged 10 years. Par. reg. per. Reverend Mr. Metcalfe).
Metcalfe (S. wall of tower). In Memory of Simon Bousfield who died September 20, 1783 Aged 89 years. And Elizabeth his Wife who died November 8th 1774 Aged 72 Yrs. Also of Ann their daughter the Wife of Tho. Metcalf who died March l0th 1776 Aged 44 years.

In affectionate remembrance of Edward Metcalfe of Ashfield who died January the 15th 1867 in his 69th years. and of Martha Kaye Metcalfe who followed her beloved husband February the lst 1867 in her 58th years. "They were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided." Also of their children, Elizabeth born June the 29th 1826 died May the 22nd 1830. Robert Weston born October the 15th 1834 died March the 26th 1846. Anne born July the 20th l836 died January the 2nd 1838.

(2). 1786. Here lies a Wife Mary Metcalfe. Where I was born or when | it matters not | To whom related | or by whom begot. (3). In memory of Anthony Metcalfe of Park House in this parish who died December 24th 1844 aged 79 years. And Frances his wife who died April 25th 1827 aged 42y. Also of Mary Metcalfe sister of the above-named Anthony Metcalfe who died April 3rd 1850 aged 82 years. And also of Anthony Metcalfe-Gibson of Park House son of the above-named Anthony Metcalfe who died May 9th 1885 aged 67 years. He assumed the surname of Gibson on the death of Richard Gibson of Coldbeck in 1880. Mary his wife who died April 5th 1858 aged 38 years. Mary his second wife who died April 24th 1876 aged 58 years. and William his, youngest son who died May 14th 1877 aged 24 years.
Milner (In. S. Brass). Near this Place are Buried the Remains of – Godfrey February 25, 1741-2 84. and Milner, who died Aged Isabel February 12, 1744-5 84. And of four of their Children, viz: Margaret Blackburn who died November 18, 1721, Aged 36. John March 28, 1743 54. Amos Milner, who died June 24, 1720 Aged 29. Isabel August 11, 1741 47. Their two surviving Children, Sarah and Ralph Milner, Erected this Memorial. But on their good Characters Death has fixed His Seal, Not to be opened till the last Day. One Eye on Death, the other fix't on high, Will teach thee, Reader, both to live and die.

Robinson (S). Here lie the remains of Ralph Robinson of Manchester, Painter, who died Sepbr. 14th 1340 aged 54 years. He was a tender and affectionate Parent, a kind Master, and was highly respected and esteemed by all who were intimately acquainted with him.

Also of Susanna Hewetson his wife who died the 15th day of December . 1796 aged 58 years. They were both interred in Mr. Burton's Vault at St. George's Episcopal Chapel, Deal, Kent. Also of Henry Hewetson, Nephew of Richard Hewetson, late of the Grange, Worth, Sussex, who was born at Ellergill the 9th day of May 1755, and died at Turnham Green, Middlesex, the 8th day of March 1838. He was interred in Kensal Green Cemetery. (2). Ina. remembrance of John Hewetson Wilson, Nephew of Henry Hewetson, late of the Grange, who died at Surbiton, Surrey, the 9th day of August 1862 in his 78th years. He was interred in the Vault beneath. Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.–5th Romans, 1 & 2 verses. Also of Jane Howard daughter of J. H. Wilson and Mary Ann his wife who died the 21st day of April 1831 aged 2 years. She was interred in a vault in the Parish Church of Stockport. (3). In affectionate remembrance of James Hewetson Wilson, Son of J. H. Wilson and Mary Ann his wife who died the 12th day of November 1850 aged 24 years. He had just taken his degree at Oxford with distinguished Mathematical honours and was about to commence the study of the Law when he was suddenly called away. Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh.–24 Matthew, 44 verse. Also of Henry Hewetson Wilson, another son, who died the 5th day of March 1834 aged 3 years. They were both interred in a vault in the Parish Church of Stockport, Cheshire. (4). In affectionate remembrance of Mary Ann Wilson, Widow of J. H. Wilson, who died at Sunbury House, Watford, Herts, the 11th day of August 1865 in the 76th years. of .her age. She was interred in the Vault beneath. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, write Blessed are they which die in the Lord from henceforth, yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them.–Revelation, chap. 14, verse 13.
