Hack Bencken Gent. who for-several years proved himself an able and expert Commander in the West India Traide (sic) departed this life at Thorda Gate on Stainmore March the:25 and Year:of our Lord 1757 in the 34 years. of his age. Ps. the 107 vers.24 & 31. They that in Ships with courage bold O'er swelling waves their trade pursue, Do God's amazing works behold, And in the deep his wonders view. O then that all the world with me Would God for this his goodness praise, And for the mighty works which he Throughout the wond'ring world displays.
