Appleby St Lawrence (E). In memory of Miss Frances Thwaites of Appleby who died December 21, 1859 aged 79 years. Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. 1st ST. JOHN, 29 v. In memory of John Thwaites, Esq., died May 24, 1799 aged 50 years. Elizabeth his widow died September . 21st 1838, aged 82 years. Here also are deposited the honoured remains of George Thwaites, Memory of D., who died much beloved and sincerely regretted June 17th 1850 aged 53 years. "The memory of the just is blessed."

Also of Richard Thwaites of Great Asby, Yeoman, for 57 years. in the same service with his brother William abovenamed, who died l6th April 1885, aged 73 years.

Brough (W). Erected in Memory of Thomas Thwaites late Governor of Appleby Gaol Who departed this life April 30th 1849 Aged 66 years. He lived respected and beloved by all classes of Society and died deeply-regretted by his family and friends. Near this place are also interred Three of his infant daughters
