Burton In Kendal (W. church yard wall). † In Memory of George Swain for 26 years. a faithful servant of Thomas Briggs of this place, died 11th of April 1860 in the 40th year of his age. This stone was erected by his numerous friends in the neighbourhood as a mark of respect and affection.

Heversham (N). + Sacred memory of Emma wife of William Dorrock Pennington Swain, surgeon, of Sedbergh, Yorkshire, and daughter of the late John Elam Esquire, deputy lieut. for the West Riding. She died August 11th, 1867 aged 39 years. “That which thou sowest is not quickened except it die.”I Corinthians chap. 15, v. 36.

Mary Swain, B. in Kendal 24th January 1831, died in Heversham on Palm Sunday 24 March 1839, daughter of Major W. W. Swain and Elizabeth his Wife.
