Clifton (N). In memory of Richard Gilbert who lost his Life on the Railway Works at
Clifton Moor May 9th 1846 Aged 20 years.
See what a sudden change in me took place
And snatch’d me from the world in haste,
I had not time once more my friends to see
But left them all to weep & mourn for me,
Oh may this admonition teach us all
How frail is man, how unforeseen his fall.
This Stone was Erected by his Affectionate Brother George Gilbert.
