Grasmere (E). In memory of Ann Dorcas, wife of Thomas Carr of Hill Top, Ambleside, and
eldest daughter of Vincent and Elizabeth Dowling of Kentish Town who died on the
17th of January 1837. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, from
henceforth, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours, and
their works do follow them. " Also of Thomas Carr of Hill Top, who departed this life
October 20th 1856 aged 61 years. "Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet
have believed." St. John 20th chap. 20 verse. A.D.C. 1837.
Grasmere (E). In memory of Elizabeth Dowling who died on the 28th of July 1836 aged 76 years.
"An humble and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." (With foot
stone).
Grasmere (E). In memory of Jane Martha Dowling of Ambleside third daughter of Vincent and
Elizabeth Dowling of Kentish Town who died on the 24th day of February 1851
aged 56. "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten." J .M. died

fortieth years. of her Age. {with foot stone).
Grasmere (In. W. board). Charities, A.D. 1812, Mrs. Dorothy Knott of Ambleside
gave the Sum of £100 the Interest from which to be applied to the Education
of five Children .(of poor but industrious Parents) at Grasmere School.
1847, Vincent G. Dowling Esq. (whose Mother and Sisters have been interred
in the Churchyard of this Parish) gave the sum of £10 towards the further
Endowment of the Parochial School. 1852, John Watson of Winterseeds in
Grasmere, Yeoman, Gave £100, the interest from which to be applied towards
the Schooling of such Children of the Poor in the Township as the School
Trustees shall annually choose.
