(Ros) (Hill MSS. II. 66 note I & 4 Ros ; 2, fess within border, mullet for difference (Parr) ; 3, ar. 3 chevronels interlaced and chiefor (Fitzhugh).

IV. 41y 1 & 4 (4 not repeating each coat) 41y I & 4 Ros, 2 & 3 Parr ; 2 Fitzhugh ; 3 Marmion. All within Garter, with Motto hony soyt quy maly pense.* * Compare different accounts in Hill MSS. II. 66, Whitaker's Richmondshire 11. 327 and Mr. Nicholson's Annals 51, the last favouring Brus vice Marmion. The latter author notes as upon the (old) ceiling of the Parr Chapel, 5 shields with Arms I. 41y I & 4 Par; 2 & 3, 41y 1& 4 Green, 2 & 3 Maplethorpe (with cross crosslets). II 41y I &4 Par, 2 & 3 Ros. III I & 4 Par, 2 Fitzhugh (without chief), 3,4ly l & 4 Ros, 2 & 3 Brus. IV 4ly 1 & 4 Green, 2 & 3 Maplethorpe. V Ros. Mr. Bellasis now observes S shields round the (new) ceiling. Arms 1 41y 1 & 4 Par 2 & 3 Ros. II 41y 1 & 4 Green, 2 & 3 Maplethorpe (with chief or, lion passant gu).
