Kirkby Lonsdale (E. altar tomb). Here Iyeth the Body of (Doro)thy wife of Mr. Charles Cartwright of Thompson Fold in Lupton who departed this life the 4th day of July 1742 aged 64. Also near this place lie the Remains of Charles Cartwright Gent, who died February 15th. I756 aged 82

Kirkby Lonsdale (In.back of choir stalls, brass). Here lies the Body of Geruas Cartwright gentleman son of Thomas Cartwright late Lord Bishop of Chester. He dyed ye 26 day of February 1707* in ye 41 years. of his age. * This date is given erroneously by Whitaker as 1787. (Richmondshire 11.278.)
