(In. S. over above niche, brass on marble). In memory of William Crackanthorpe of Newbiggin Hall, Esq., Who in the years. 1854 rebuilt this Church. The high example of his long blameless life, His wise benevolence and rare force of character Won for him throughout the Counties of Westmorland and Cumberland The love and respect of all conditions of men Without distinction of Creed or Party. B. 25 February 1790 died 10 January 1888. (The late Mr. Crackanthorpe is interred in the chancel).

In memory of Richard Fawell, Yeoman, of this village, who departed this life January 22nd 1839, aged 79 years. Also Margaret his wife, who died February 10th 1832, aged 65 years. Also Margaret their daughter who died February 2nd 1824, aged 18 years. And Thomas their Son, by .whose direction this Stone was erected as the last tribute of affection to his beloved Parents& Sisters. He died January 24th 1846, in the 52nd years. of his age. "The sweet remembrance of the just shall flourish when he sleeps in dust." The grave has eloquence, its lectures teach In silence louder than Divines can preach, Hear what it says, ye sons of folly hear, It speaks to you, lend an attentive ear.
