Shepherd Appleby St Lawrence

(E). In memory of John Shepherd, of Haybanks, Drybeck, who died February 22nd 1871, aged 71 years. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord," erected by his 12 nephews and nieces.

Shepherd Appleby St Michael

(N. W). I. h. s. In loving memory Ralph Brass, of Cross Keys, Hilton, who died April 17th 1876 aged 79 years. Also of Margaret Jane, Daughter of Jonathan and Ann Shepherd of Cross Keys, Hilton, who died March 22nd 1878 aged 15 years.

Shepherd Cliburn

(E. wall). June 7th 1746. Near this Stone Lieth Giles Shepherd agd 79 May ye 29th 1743 and Elizabeth his wife July ye 27th 1760. Elizabeth Wife of Henry Shepherd Aged 52, Novembr 19, 1763. Also Elianor Their daughter aged 18. The last loud Trumpets' wondrous Sound Shall through the rending Tombs resound Then will the sacred Book be read To try the Living and the Dead.

(In. chancel). H. S. E. Reverendus Vir Richardus Shepherd, Hujus Parochiæ Per Annos 50 Rector, Parvuli scilicet Gregis Pastor fidelis, vigilans, Veræ Religionis cultor assiduus, Qui primævæ Pietatis, Probitatis, Charitatis, Præclarum Exemplum Posteris Relinquens. Obiit 110 Oct. A.D. 1739, Æt. 86.

(N. W .) In memory of John Shepherd late of Kirkby Ireleth, Lancashire, who died August 1st 1823 Aged 73 years. Also of Agnes his Widow who died May 11th 1825 Aged 71 years. No splendid Monument is necessary to perfect their virtue, they are entombed in the Hearts of their own Family to be effaced only by death. Also of Mary Askew their grand- child who died March 15th 1824 Aged 2 years. and 9 m. In memory of Dorothy Askew who died September . 23d 1852 Aged 65.

(In. brass, Bellingham chapel). To Memory of Mrs. Penelope Shepherd, who departed this life the 19th of March 1732, Whose Example this Inscription Recommends to posterity. For under this Stone Lie the Remains of an affectionate Wife, a beneficent Neighbour , a faithful Friend; Who lived esteemed, and died lamented, was Religious in Health, Patient in Sickness, and Resigned in Death. Thomas Shepherd Esqr. dedicates this Inscription To Memory of his beloved Wife And desires it may remain a lasting Monument of his Esteem and Affection. Crest a demi-eagle displayed, issuing from flames. Arms ar. 3 martlets gu. on chief of la.st, 3 martlets of field.

(In. brass, Bellingham chapel}. Here Lieth the Remains of Thomas Shepherd, Gent. Who departed this life the 29th of May 1732. He was skilful and active in Business, An affectionate Husband, An indulgent Parent, and a faithful Friend.

Shepherd Kendal

(E). Here Lyeth the Body of William Shepherd late Malster in Kendal who Died Augt. the 7th 1730 Aged 71. Here also lie the remains of Agnes his Wife who Departed this Life July the 24th 1759 aged 94. Here likewise lie the Remains of Robert Shepherd Son of the above William and Agnes. Shepherd who Died a Batchelor june the 25th 1777 aged 89 Also William Newby, Cordwainer of Kendal who departed this Life January 23rd 1791 aged 52.

Shepherd Kirkby Lonsdale

(N. rail). Bowman Shepherd, eldest son of William and Isabella Shepherd, b. at Moorsley June 14th 1832, died at Bradford October 13th 1878. Isabella Shepherd wife of Bowman Shepherd and second daughter of Richard and Mary Ann Atkinson of this town, born at Whittington August 8th 1831, died at Kirkby Lonsdale March 15th 1886.

Shepherd Kirkby Stephen

In memory of Anne Fothergill of Nateby who died November . 8th 1826 aged 67. This stone is erected as a tribute of respect for her faithful services, upwards of 25 years. in the family of the late Arthur Shepherd Esqr. in this County.

Shepherd Kirkby Thore

(S.E). Erected in m. George Shepherd, son of Thomas and Jane Shepherd who departed this life November . 17th 1809 aged 4 years. Thomas Shepherd died 26 December 1848 aged 84 years. Jane his wife 18th Oct. 1842 aged 70 years.

Henry Earl of Lonsdale, Lord Lieutenant and Custos Rotulorum of Westmoreland & Cumberland, Colonel of the Westmorland and Cumberland Yeomanry Cavalry, Hon: Colonel of the Royal Cumberland Militia, Hon: Colonel of the Cumberland Volunteers, late Captain in the 1st Life Guards. Rep. Westmoreland in Parliament 25 years. B. Mar: xxvii A.D. mdcccxviiiD. Aug: xv A.D. mdccclxxvi. To whose beloved memory, the best of husbands and fathers and the most upright of gentlemen, this monument is erected by his wife. The memory of the just is blessed. (This is on either side of a full length figure, full face, in uniform of the 1st Life Guards, holding the helmet in the right hand; being a portrait of Henry Lord Lonsdale. Mr. Grump). Two shields of Arms (above), 1. or. 6 annulets 3, 2, I, sa. (Lowther) (with ulster badge). 2. Lowther impaling barry of 10 ar. & gu. on canton of 2nd lion passant guardant or (Caulfeild). Also 2 medallions each containing 5 small shields. On 1st medallion are I. Lowther (with ulster badge); II. Sa. 3 escallops within bordure engrailed ar. (Strickland); III. Gu. 3 lucies hauriant or (Lucy); IV. Ar. lion rampant sa. (Stapleton); V. Erm. on canton az. cross calvary or, (Quaile). On 2nd medallion, I. Sa.3 covered cups ar. (Warcop); II. Sa. 3 martlets volant ar. (Coll. Arms C. 39, 15 born ); III. Ar. 2 bars gu. on canton of 2nd, mullet of the field (Lancaster of Sockbridge); IV. Ar.3 bugle horns sa. (Bellingham); V. Ar. chevron gu. between 3 torteaux (Sherard).

Shepherd Orton

(N). In memory of Sarah the beloved wife of John Shepherd of Orton who departed this life August 1st 1854 aged 34 years. Here lies a child of Adam's guilty race Saved by the second Adam's power & Grace. No merits of her own had she to boast, Her hope was this, Christ came to save the lost. Also of Joseph Shepherd son of the above-named who died April 25th 1865 aged 17 years. " Blessed are they that have not seen & yet have believed. "
