Dalston Brough

(S). In Memory of Thomas Sanderson, died February 27th 1807 Aged 70 years. Phillis Sanderson died February 9th .18I9 aged 43 years. Ann Sanderson died April 3rd 1820 aged 77 years. William Sanderson died March 2nd 1821 aged 51 years. Jane Sanderson died September l0th 1824 Aged 53 years. Ann Sanderson died December . 31st 1837 Aged 56 years. Also Mary King died July 24th 1853 Aged 68 years. All of Borren House, Stainmore. And of Thomas Dalston, Late surgeon, of Brough who departed this life January 24th 1870 Aged 49Y. Also Thomas Dalston, son of the above, who died May 31st 1877 Aged 17 years.

(In. N). To Memory of John Leyburne late of Cunswick Esq. who died ye 9th of Decem: 1737: Aged 69. In whom that Ancient, Loyall, & Religious Family is now extinct, Whose Example this Inscription Recommends to Posterity, For under this Stone lies the Remains of a most Affectionate Husband, a Charitable Neighbour, & a Kind Master. In Dealings Just, In Words Sincere, Was Humble in Pros perity, Heroickly resign'd in Adversity, Whose unaffected Devotion. Strict Sobriety & Unwearied practice of Christian Duties, is worthy ye Imitation of All. He had two Sons, who died in their Infancy so hath left no Issue to inherit his Virtues. And that the Memory of them may not perish with ye Name Lucy his wife hath Plac'd this Monument, as a Memorial of her Love & Esteem. Miseremini, Miseremini, mei, Saltem vos Amici mei ! Job 19th. Christopherum, Thomam, Georgiam, Willielmum, Caro1um, Elizabetham, Franciscam, Luciam, Ianam, Dorotheam, Margarettam et Decem alios qui sub ipsâ Infantia morte cesserunt. Animam Deo Resignavit apud Prædiolum suum de Mill-Rigg xiii die Mensis Aprilis A.D. MDCXCII. ("Burn's copy is quite wrong."
